Kathak

A Sanskrit word meaning ‘Story', is a traditional Indian dance originating from Uttar Pradesh in India. From the 16th century and onwards, the dance embraced features of Persian and central Asian dance, these were imported by the royal courts from the Mughal era. Today, the dance contains traces of temple, ritual dances and influences from the bhakti movement. The bhakti movement is the theistic devotional trend that emerged in medieval Hinduism. This later revolutionised into the form of Sikhism.
