Global Stories

Global Stories is a commission opportunity inviting musicians to take inspiration from universal stories that they want to share with the world.

Vocalist and nasheed artist Ismail Hussain joins the SAA-uk family to explore different takes on Islamic poetry, with influences from Arabic heritage, Western traditions and Punjabi styles.

With the support of the SPOTLIGHT programme, Ismail will be developing his unique take on traditional poetry, and also his particular perspective and strengths as an artist, culminating in a special performance of contemporary music honouring several diverse traditions and points of inspiration.
