Kitha Balakrishnan

Kitha is a Carnatic violinist with extensive experience playing as an accompaniment in star studded concerts. She is now exploring music as a solo artist.

She starting learning the violin under Smt. Kalaivani Indrakumar, progressing to further training from Kalaimamani M. Nandini and Sri H.N. Bhaskar. She was a member of the national ensemble Tarang and was Orchestra leader for SAMYO (South Asian Music Youth Orchestra).

Kitha has strong links with the south Asian music sector – NPO organisations such as MilapFest, SAA-UK and Darbar, allowing for a stronger bridge between the arts sector and her reach of community audience. She has performed all over the UK at many festivals, including the Darbar Festival and the London International Arts Festival, and in India and the USA.
