Discover the elegance and depth of Kathak, a classical dance form from Northern India, renowned for its expressive storytelling, intricate footwork, and rhythmic mastery. Our classes are led by Jyoti Manral, a passionate teacher, performer, and choreographer dedicated to preserving the authentic traditional style of Kathak while embracing contemporary interpretation. Our classes offer a space to connect with yourself, others and establish cultural connections to a historical dance form you may have been missing.

•    Posture & Body Alignment – graceful stance and movement 
•    Mudras – traditional hand gestures used in storytelling 
•    Taal – understanding rhythmic cycles and patterns 
•    Tatkaar – intricate footwork with ankle bells (ghungroos) 
•    Chakkars – controlled and elegant spins 
•    Bhava & Abhinaya – facial expressions and emotional storytelling 
•    Laya – tempo awareness and rhythm control 
•    Padhant – recitation of rhythmic syllables (bols) 
•    Musicality – dancing with live instruments like tabla, sarangi, santoor, and vocals 
•    Storytelling – narrating mythological and folk tales through dance 
•    Performance Skills – stage presence, confidence, and choreography 
•    Theory & History – origins, evolution, and Kathak gharanas (schools)

🎶A Unique Musical Experience (Dance with Live Musicians) 
What sets our classes apart is the live accompaniment by classical Indian musicians. Each term features a different instrument: 
•    Tabla 
•    Sarangi 
•    Vocal 
•    Santoor 

This immersive experience enables students to experience dance from the heart, deepening their understanding of taal, laya, and the emotional connection between movement and music. This holistic approach goes beyond dance; it is a deep nourishment for the soul.

👯Dance Buddy Scheme 
Our senior students have the opportunity to develop their teaching skills by shadowing our tutors while assisting in beginner classes. This initiative provides valuable practical experience and supports their professional development in the art form. 

Enrichment Programme 
We believe in breaking barriers to access the arts. Through our Enrichment Programme, students are given the unique opportunity to attend performances by renowned artists—completely free of cost.
