Jyoti is a distinguished Kathak dancer, choreographer, and teacher, with over 13 years of formal training at Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, under the mentorship of Guru Mrs. Geetanjali Lal.
A recipient of several prestigious scholarships, she earned the merit scholarship from Kathak Kendra for six years and the Cultural Ministry scholarship from the Government of India for two years.
Jyoti is also an empanelled artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and a graded artist with Delhi Doordarshan.
She has performed at major dance festivals across the UK, India, Sweden, Latvia, Russia, Singapore, West Africa, Nepal, Bhutan, and China.
Currently, Jyoti teaches Kathak and is also the dance development officer at SAA-uk and stars in several of its productions, including Wood, THREAD, and One Dha at a Time. She also choreographed the Kathak curtain-raiser for Pagrav Dance Company's Kattam Katti (2022).
Jyoti specialises in working with diverse communities and engaging in public outreach initiatives. She has been honored with several esteemed awards, including the DYCP grant from Arts Council England, Spare-BOB, the Mentoring Scheme, Culture 101 by Bradford Producing Hub, and Thinking Space by Yorkshire Dance.
Additionally, she received funding for her solo production Alexa Stop from the Leeds City College Arts Fund. A strong advocate for collaboration,
