Led by our talented tutor, Mrs. Sayani Roy—a trained Odissi dancer, teacher, and choreographer with over 15 years of experience—our Odissi classes offer a deep dive into one of India's most graceful and expressive classical dance forms.
Odissi originates from the temples of Odisha, where it was performed as a sacred offering to deities. It is renowned for its fluid movements, sculptural poses, and expressive storytelling, often depicting tales from sacred Hindu texts like the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Krishna Leela.
Students learn:
Tribhangi posture: A signature stance that bends the body in three places—head, torso, and hips.
Abhinaya (expression): Using facial expressions and hand gestures to convey emotions and narratives.
Melodious music: Dancing to classical Odia compositions
Hand gestures and footwork
Odissi is more than dance—it's a spiritual and cultural experience that connects movement with meaning. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, our classes provide a nurturing and safe space to explore this timeless art form.
