Sayani Roy is a passionate dancer, teacher, and choreographer based in Leeds, dedicated to promoting Odissi Indian classical dance within the city and its surrounding areas.
Her journey in dance began at an early age under the guidance of her mother, Sujata Ghosh, and later continued with esteemed gurus, including the Gurukul of Kelucharan Mahapatra, Dr. Rina Jana, and Enakshi Sinha in Canada.
In addition to her Odissi expertise, Sayani is a trained Kathak dancer and teacher with over 12 years of experience. She is an Artistic Director and online teacher at Hindol Dance and Music College in India.
Sayani has choreographed for multiple companies and productions in India, as well as performed with renowned dance troupes in both India and Dubai.
A Gold Medalist in Odissi from Bangiya Dance Sangeet Parishad, West Bengal, Sayani holds a Sangeet Visharad in Kathak from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh.
She has earned numerous awards, including second place in the Eastern Zone (5th-year exam) in 2009-10 and third place in Odissi at the Rajya Chhatra-Yuva Utsav statewide competition in West Bengal in 2006, awarded by the Government of West Bengal.
