Upneet Singh

Upneet Singh is a gifted, young Tabla player who began learning at the tender age of 5.  He is from a musical family and was born and brought up in England. Upneet is the son of renowned educator and sitar artist, Ustad Dharambir Singh Ji MBE. From very early on, he was surrounded by the aesthetic of Hindustani classical music and moved on to learning tabla from legendary master the late Pandit Sharda Sahai Ji of the Benaras tradition.

Upneet has performed in many prestigious venues across the UK. Upneet has been a key member of the national South Asian music orchestras SAMYO and Tarang, Upneet has been involved with many projects both as a soloist and as part of an ensemble combining music from all around the world. He was part of the Singhstrings ensemble alongside his father and brothers Surmeet and Kaviraj, and with Indo-Irish group Milun.

Now formally under the tutelage of Pandit Sanju Sahai Ji, Upneet continues his education with the legendary 6th generation Benaresi tabla master. Upneet is available for performances both in formal settings and as background music for various events and for 1 to 1 tuition. Alongside his music, Upneet has graduated with an honours degree in Automotive Engineering and is working as a Quality Engineer at a manufacturing company producing precision parts for the automotive industry.
