Lakshay Mohan

Lakshay Mohan is considered to be one of the finest Sitar exponents on the global scenario of Indian Classical music. Along with his brother, Aayush Mohan, the duo are known as Mohan Brothers and are the first Indian artists to perform at the Grammy Museum. Lakshay has taken his artistry to other prominent performance spaces around the globe include, Symphony Space in New York City, Berklee College, Boston, Central Conservatory of Music, China, and many more. Lakshay is a grand-disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar.

After listening to the Jugalbandi of Lakshay Mohan and Aayush Mohan in 2012, Pandit Ravi Shankar decided to launch them for their debut USA tour under his foundation. Lakshay has mastered his craft under the guidance of other eminent gurus including Pt. Balwant Rai Verma, (the senior most disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar), Pandit Uma Shankar Mishra, Pt. Tejendra Majumdar and Gundecha Brothers. It is this extensive training under two generations of eminent Gurus which has placed him among the most worthy torchbearers of the Senia-Maihar Gharana.

Lakshay Mohan has also been an active TEDx speaker creating awareness and motivating the youth for greater appreciation of Indian classical music. He has many albums to his credit including ‘The Majestic Court' and ‘Echoes from the Yellow Land'. In March 2022, Lakshay performed at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank centre, London for "The Ravi Shankar centenary" concert with Anoushka Shankar, John Maclaughlin and other eminent musicians.
