Adnan Khan

Adnan Khan was born into a family of renowned musicians and started learning the sitar under his maternal grandfather, the late Usta Zafar Ahmed Khan. He has been learning the intricacies of the instrument from his father, renowned sitar player Ustad Saeed Khan of the Dilli (Delhi) Gharana. He is now learning the gayaki ang from his uncle, Bandish Nawaz Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan.

The gayaki ang is clearly palpable in his rendition of sitar, giving stress on melody and fine tonal quality, purity of ragas swar and sargam.

Adnan's first performance was at the age of 8; since then he has performed in many prestigious festivals in India and abroad, including Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan, the oldest festival of Indian Classical Music in the world, Kal Ke Kalakar in Mumbai and the Ustad Vilayat Khan Foundation. He was a senior A-grade Scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy Kolkata, India under Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan in December 2009.
