Call Out: UK-based Carnatic Composer & Arranger

South Asian Arts-UK (SAA-uk) is seeking a visionary UK-based Carnatic classical musician to compose, arrange, and perform with a trio-to-quartet ensemble, collaborating with award-winning filmmaker Jason Ramasami on a groundbreaking new project.
 
Jason's short animated film is deeply rooted in South Asian heritage, and SAA-uk will present its world premiere with a newly composed Carnatic score performed live at our Winter Solstice celebration at Seven Arts, Leeds – 21st December 2025.
 
Who we're looking for:
  • A skilled UK-based Carnatic composer/arranger with a flair for collaboration and creativity.
  • Experience working with ensembles and cross-disciplinary projects.
  • An ability to capture emotion, nuance, and cultural authenticity through music.
  • Availability to attend curation sessions, workshops, rehearsals, and recordings (Oct–Dec 2025).
What you'll do:
  • Collaborate with Jason and SAA-uk's Raaga Live ensemble to create and arrange a powerful score.
  • Take part in rehearsals, production, and recording sessions.
  • Perform at the world premiere alongside live musicians.
