வித்து SEED is an ambitious new commission from SAA-uk, bringing together acclaimed composer and violinist Preetha Narayanan and illustrator/animator Jason Ramasami in a unique collaboration that blends live Carnatic music with contemporary animation. 

The work follows the story of a bruised wanderer who, after a perilous journey, discovers an eternal spiritual source through an act of selfless hospitality. Through this poetic narrative, வித்து SEED explores themes of identity, belonging, resilience and renewal, inviting audiences to reflect on their own experiences of connection, displacement & hope. 

Drawing on abstract Tamil letterforms and symbolic imagery, Jason's evocative animation is paired with a newly commissioned score by Preetha, created for a quartet of Carnatic musicians featuring violin, veena, mridangam and ghatam.

Together, sound and image create an immersive multi-sensory experience that bridges tradition and innovation, offering a powerful dialogue between cultural heritage and contemporary artistic expression. 

Developed through an intensive creative process during Spring and Summer 2026, வித்து SEED is set to premiere at Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds.

More than a performance, வித்து SEED offers audiences a contemplative space to pause, reflect and reconnect. In an increasingly fractured world, it stands as a glowing seed of hope, celebrating the power of storytelling, music and imagination to bring people together.
