TABLA CLASSES:
Sundays 4:30-7 pm
Tuesdays 5-9 pm
Students begin their journey with the Tabla by learning to create a variety of sounds using their fingers and palms — an intricate skill that requires both precision and sensitivity. As they progress, they develop a deep rhythmic awareness, practising traditional patterns (known as taals) that form the foundation of Indian classical music.
The Tabla, though often recognised as an accompanying instrument, possesses a majestic solo voice of its own. Through dedicated practice, students not only learn to accompany vocalists and instrumentalists but also explore how the Tabla can express melody, mood, and emotion independently.
Our experienced tutors guide learners through the techniques, compositions, and improvisations that bring this ancient percussion art to life. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced student, classes are designed to nurture confidence, creativity, and connection with rhythm.
🗓️ Classes are available on Sundays or Tuesdays, offering flexible options for all ages and levels.
Throughout their learning journey, students are inspired by the legacy of world-renowned Tabla maestros such as Ustad Alla Rakha, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Yogesh Samsi, and Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri — as well as leading UK-based artists like Pandit Sanju Sahai, Ustad Shahbaz Hussain, Sudarshan Singh, and Upneet Singh.
At SAA-uk, learning Tabla is more than mastering rhythm — it's about becoming part of a living tradition that continues to evolve, inspire, and connect people through the universal language of sound.
