We invite everyone to a summer's evening filled with Indian classical music by sitar duo Sri Ayan Sengupta and Smt Srijani Bannerjee accompanied by Ustad Shahbaz Hussain ‘Son of Lahore' awardee on Tabla.
The sound of the taanpura drone sets the scene for the two renowned Indian music scholars to begin their sitar recital of seasonal Indian classical ragas associated with the pahars (times of day).

The recital will be preceded by a talk titled ‘Insights to Indian Classical Music' with the three eminent musicians and chaired by Barsa Ray, published & listed author and Trustee at South Asian Arts-uk.
Seating for this event is unreserved. Booths include entry for 6 people to the event, includes a bottle of fizz, and guarantees your space for the evening.

Ayan Sengupta, a highly accomplished sitarist, scholar andtutor at the prestigious ITC Sangeet Research Academy, is known for his depth of training, technical brilliance and expressive command of Raag music.
Srijani Sengupta, a senior scholar of the Academy, brings a lyrical and contemporary sensitivity to her classical foundation, shaped by performances at major festivals and international collaborations.
Ustad Shahbaz Hussain, one of Europe's foremost tabla artists, whose lineage spanning the Delhi and Punjab gharanas informs a dynamic and deeply nuanced approach to rhythm.
Barsa Ray, Born in India and now based in the UK, Barsa's background spans financial services, international development and creative writing, and her long-standing commitment to Indian classical arts continues to shape her advocacy and professional contributions at SAA-uk.
