Satwinder Pal Singh

Satwinder Pal Singh is a UK-based Sarangi player with an artistic versatility that sees him play many other bowed instruments from across Northern India, including the Dilruba, Israj, and Taus.

Growing up in Punjab, Satwinder Pal ji was surrounded by many musical influences. His father, the first A-graded Sikh Sarangi player, Ustad S. Shaminder Pal Singh and his late grandfather, the accomplished Banjo player Sardar Harchand Singh are amongst Satwinder Pal ji's formative inspirations.

Following suit in the path of his family, Satwinder Pal jis musical legacy has been decorated with many impressive accolades including receiving the Presidential Award in the All India Radio Music Competition by the Government of India.

Aside from establishing an impressive career as an instrumentalist, Satwinder Pal ji is also a vocalist who has released two songs ‘Ruh Lai Gya' and ‘Shaman Pai Gaiyan'.

Satwinder Pal ji has been part of many SAA-uk projects including Summer Solstice: Asian Music Festival, Ode to Chanda Bai, and our Raag and Taal masterclasses. Whether teaching or performing, Satwinder Pal ji is keeping the flame of South Asian music aglow by inspiring audiences and students as he showcases the best of what this musical tradition has to offer.
