Yamana Jaman-Browne
Yamana Jaman-Browne, a 23-year-old with British Bangladeshi heritage, is a dynamic arts and community engagement enthusiast based in Leeds.
With a lifelong passion for the arts, Yamana's journey began with creative pursuits such as drawing, piano, drama, and dance.
Yamana's previous roles include Welfare Officer at Leeds University Union's Art Society as well as Community Engagement Apprentice as the British Library. Here she led and supported on the organisation of workshops and events, fostering a vibrant artistic community.
Her dedication to community work is evident through her volunteering at Seva Lunch Club, a pay-as-you-feel café at Woodhouse Community Centre. Through cooking and fundraising at the Club, Yamana experienced the value in building safe spaces where community and creativity can be accessible for all.
Yamana is passionate about creating inclusive, safe spaces and believes in the transformative power of the arts. In her spare time, she enjoys drawing, exploring and salsa dancing! She views the HeadStart trainee opportunity as a crucial step to further develop her skills and contribute to the community, driven by her love for learning.
