Maryam Jameela
Maryam is the Music Development Officer at South Asian Arts UK, where she plays a key role in the operation and development of the organisation's Music Academy and its education programme. Since 2023, she has led the day-to-day running of the SAA-uk Music Academy, working closely with students, parents, and tutors to create a welcoming and engaging learning environment.
She now leads the development of SAA-uk's Hindustani Music Curriculum, an exciting project designed to celebrate tradition while making South Asian music more accessible for young people in the UK. Alongside this, she works with the Education and Learning Coordinator to produce summer schools, and creative collaborations that bring together young musicians and professional artists - the most notable example of this is the Young Composers' project with Drum the Bass and Bradford Music Education Hub which took place over 2024-25.
With a solid foundation in education administration, project management, and research, Maryam is passionate about supporting young people and empowering underrepresented groups to access the arts. She is also a recent alumni of the respected Clore Emerging Leaders programme 2025, where she began to understand her leadership practice and new ways to create inclusive, creative learning environments.
Outside of work, she can usually be found hunting for new music, reading, cooking, or hiking!
