Barsa Ray

Barsa was born in New Delhi and raised in Odisa, India.

She worked in financial services with leading organisations like GE Capital and ICICI Bank, before moving to development sector consultancy, working on DFID projects to improve health and social development outcomes in hard to reach communities in India. She now works in commercial due diligence on transactions for mid-cap companies.

She has written poetry and fiction from an early age, winning prizes in international competitions and published in reputed magazines. It was this love of writing that brought her to do an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Leeds.

She has lived in the UK post her masters degree and continues to publish her work in leading literary journals. She has also trained in Odissi for over ten years and is currently learning Kathak.

Her interest in the arts led her to volunteer for SAA-uk's marketing activities in 2009. She decided to join the board of SAA-uk because of her abiding passion for Indian classical music and dance, and her wish to champion these arts so that they stay vibrant and accessible for various target groups.
