Adele Newman
Adele is the project manager of CYCLE UP! at the Goethe-Institut in Prague, a project taking place in Germany, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Poland and Slovakia, focused on getting more people cycling in the city, through arts and culture initiatives.
Her career has been focused on promoting cultural heritage, through education, research and public programming for both private and public institutions. She has led multiple, large-scale initiatives including music and film festivals, community arts programmes and cultural heritage workshops in the UK and India as well as central Europe.
She is passionate about bringing communities together through meaningful and multidisciplinary cultural experiences that have a social purpose. She has a degree from The School of Oriental and African Studies, London in South Asian studies and history and a master's degree from the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Having lived in New Delhi for almost ten years, South Asian arts and culture has played a significant role in her life, giving her new perspectives and lots of joy! She is part of the SAA-uk board because she wants to be part of an organisation focused on promoting opportunities for artists and communities to engage with South Asian arts so that everyone can enjoy and have access to it.
