Volunteer on our Board of Trustees

As South Asian Arts-uk steps into a thrilling new chapter, we are actively seeking individuals who share our passion for South Asian performing arts and who can bring diverse perspectives to our Board of Trustees. SAA-uk is poised to embark on an extraordinary journey, and we want you to be part of the magic.

Are you the visionary we've been searching for? Do you dream of being a driving force behind the next chapter of SAA-uk's incredible journey? This is more than a role; it's an invitation to shape the future of SAA-uk and contribute to the realization of our vision for a National Centre for South Asian Performing Arts in Leeds. Are you ready to be part of this exciting evolution? Join us in celebrating the richness of culture and creativity. Let's craft an extraordinary legacy, serving ourselves and our community – together!

We are specifically seeking people with at least 3 years' experience in the following areas to join as a Volunteer on our Board of Trustees:

  • Organisational development from set-up to building stage, ideally (but not necessarily) within a cultural or community sector setting
  • Legal and HR,
  • Marketing and Communications,
  • Fundraising, especially in the realms of community, corporate, and individual giving,
  • A Creative - whether a performing artist, creative producer, programmer, director, or similar. While we presently focus on South Asian arts, we are open to applicants from art forms that are generally underrepresented in the UK, regardless of their specific cultural background.

Time commitment and location: The SAA-uk Board meets once every quarter (4 times a year) with meetings held on a Tuesday afternoon. Meetings are held at the SAA-uk Office: Mabgate Mills, Mill 1 Ground Floor North, Leeds LS9 7DZ

Our board is not just diverse and inclusive; it's a supportive community that values and champions every voice. At SAA-uk, we are dedicated to fostering an environment where everyone thrives, and we extend a warm invitation to individuals from underrepresented groups. We strongly encourage applications from those who identify with the global ethnic majority, individuals with disabilities, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and those who face social barriers to accessing the arts. Rest assured, our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion is not just a statement; it's embedded in our core values and reflected in our comprehensive EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) strategy. When you join us, you're not just becoming a trustee; you're becoming part of a family that celebrates the richness of diverse perspectives. Come be a driving force in shaping the future of South Asian performing arts in the North!
