Maya: Birth of a Superhero is a groundbreaking, immersive narrative that follows Maya, an ordinary girl in 21st-century London, whose life is transformed by the arrival of her first period. What begins as an ordinary coming-of-age story soon turns into a powerful journey of self-discovery, as Maya confronts the stigma, shame, and taboos surrounding menstruation in her conservative family and society at large. Her name, Maya, meaning "magic" and "illusion" in Sanskrit, sets the tone for her transformation into a superhero whose powers are deeply rooted in the very process that society has taught her to hide.

With stunning visuals and a richly layered soundtrack, Maya is more than just a story—it is an exploration of resilience, empowerment, and the reclamation of identity. Created and directed by renowned artist and women's rights activist Poulomi Basu in collaboration with CJ Clarke, this project blends cutting-edge technology with profound storytelling to challenge societal norms and elevate the dialogue around female empowerment.

Maya: Birth of a Superhero is not just a performance; it's a movement. It shines a light on the hidden narratives of menstruation, shame, and empowerment, weaving a tale that is both universal and deeply personal. Through cutting-edge visuals, immersive soundscapes, and powerful performances, this project invites audiences to question societal taboos and embrace the beauty of transformation.

Join us this spring-summer season for a transformative experience that redefines what it means to be a superhero in a modern world.
