Catch Leeds-born composer, arranger, and improviser, multi-award-winning sitarist Jasdeep Singh Degun as he makes a stop during this national tour and returns to the Howard Assembly Room for classical storytelling.
His performance interprets a traditional raga, allowing each performer to infuse their imagination and creative vision into the age-old melody.
The sitar, perfectly suited to convey a full range of emotions, will be accompanied by tabla for an intimate concert.
Following his acclaimed sitar concerto Arya and his debut album, Anomaly, Jasdeep's role as Artist in Residence at Opera North combined orchestral scale with Indian classical improvisation, earning awards like Outstanding Achievement in Opera and Best Stage Production.
