Baithak LIVE / NAARi

Baithak LIVE / NAARi The Woman
MON 8 MAR 2021
from 5.30pm GMT on
YouTube

This March we are continuing our Baithak* LIVE series - SAA-uk's live streamed concert series, bringing the very best music and dance to your front room.

NAARi / The Woman is a celebration of the spirit, resilience, and fortitude of the feminine through music. Thanks to funding from PRS Foundation through The Open Fund, we have been able to work with the esteemed Leicester-based sitarist Roopa Panesar to create new music and inspire a dedication to the arts amongst a new generation of young women. NAARi was conceptualised during SAA-uk's LEAP 2020 Festival and aims to champion both established female artists and female rising stars of music.

Concert set-list
1) Solo by Aman Kaur Boparai
2) NAARi trio (Prisha Kadakia, Kaavya Kulkarni and Kirtan Kaur Virdee) presenting Raag Kaunsi Kanada
3) Raag Megh by Roopa Panesar
4) NAARi original composition in Raag Chandrakauns by Roopa Panesar

Each music piece has been composed, and arranged by Roopa Panesar exclusively for this Baithak LIVE, performed by four talented young sitarists as well as Roopa, and supported with sound design by Kaviraj Singh.

Yorkshire-based Aman  and Kirtan are students training at SAA-uk's Music Academy under the watchful eye of sitarist Jasdeep Singh Degun, whilst Kaavya and Prisha are students of Roopa based in Leicester (UK).

Sign up to our Music and Dance Academies to experience the incredible reach of South Asian music and dance, and consider donating to keep the arts alive and thriving for future generations.

* The word baithak is inspired by the tradition of intimate concerts of Indian classical music, usually held in a person's private home with an audience of around 10-30 people.
