At South Asian Arts-uk (SAA-uk), we believe that access to creativity and culture is a fundamental right — regardless of background or geography. We're committed to ensuring that everyone, everywhere & at all stages of their life, has the opportunity to engage in high quality experiences. Our work is rooted in the belief that equal access to culturally relevant art allows individuals & entire communities to express themselves, feel seen & ultimately, to realise their full potential.
Through our Creative Community Engagement Plan, we reaffirm our commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces where people of all backgrounds — regardless of age, postcode, or prior experience — feel empowered to participate in high-quality artistic experiences. This work is not just about performances or workshops; it's about cultivating confidence, self-expression, and a sense of belonging through the arts. As an organisation led by the values of inclusivity, relevance, and equal opportunity, we are dedicated to giving voice to creative communities across the South Asian diaspora in Leeds and beyond. According to census data, Leeds is home to a richly diverse population, including a significant and growing South Asian community. Yet despite this presence, many remain underrepresented in mainstream cultural narratives. Our goal is to change that.
We are proud to align this vision with Arts Council England's #Let'sCreate strategy and contribute meaningfully to the cultural ecology of Leeds. By offering engaging, grassroots-level creative opportunities, we help ensure that South Asian voices and stories are reflected, celebrated, and heard.
