Kauser Mukhtar is SAA- uk's Creative and Community Engagement Officer. She is currently working on the Platform project which engages and connects with the diverse South Asian communities of Leeds to uncover stories, discover hidden talent and begin the process of creating an up-to-date, historical archive of South Asian communities in Leeds.
Kauser is keen to ensure that South Asian communities in Leeds have access to cultural activities across the city that are inclusive and accessible. Kauser is passionate about heritage and culture and keeping it alive through engagement and participation.
She is a poet, singer-songwriter and theatre maker who writes in English, Punjabi and Urdu. She created her first play, Khooghi, during the pandemic. It is a bilingual autobiographical work that is specifically made for multi-generational South Asian audiences.
