Lighting/Projection Designer
SAA-uk hosts an annual Winter Solstice concert, celebrating the minds and works of South Asian artists. This year's concert is around maestro Baluji Shrivastav OBE, and his journey with visual impairment, called
Winter Solstice: From Within. This concert is not about a life without sight, but an immersive voyage across the mind that can create images through the senses, unveiled by the sounds of South Asian instruments: the resonating strings of sitar, intricate beats and much more. South Asian Arts-uk is a PRS Foundation Talent Development Partner supported by PPL. Project - SAA-uk Spotlight 2023 - Winter Solstice: From Within.
Shining a light on underrepresented talent and facilitating unique expressions For this performance, SAA-uk is looking for a
light/visual/projection designer to work on the collaborative piece, which will be showcased on the 21st of December at Howard Assembly Room in Leeds, UK.
Note: This position is open for lighting/projection designers who fall under Global Majorities. The role of the designer is to curate a visual simulation to evoke/capture Baluji's imagination and music around the Winter Solstice concert. Working alongside him, the SAA-uk team and the Howard Assembly Room tech team, to bring to life a light simulation for a 1-hour performance. This can either be a light show, a projection piece, or whatever else you would like to create for this performance.
The fee for the successful applicant is: £1,500 (all inclusive - travel accommodation and all taxes).
